About
The Clarendon Building, constructed between 1711 and 1715, is a neoclassical architectural landmark in Oxford. Originally built to house the Oxford University Press, it was partially funded by the profits of Lord Clarendon's book, 'History of the Great Rebellion'. The building features nine lead statues of the Muses by Sir James Thornhill, with seven still preserved. It later served as the university's student administration and is now part of the Bodleian Library.
Open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM, the Clarendon Building offers visitors a glimpse into Oxford's rich history and architectural beauty. The neoclassical design and the bridge connecting to the building enhance its charm, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring Oxford.
